CERFODES Advances Accelerated ED+ Research

A Research Project for Education in Emergencies
The Accelerated ED+ project is supported by IDRC and GPE-KIX and focuses on adapting and scaling proven educational innovations in conflict-affected and highly vulnerable areas across Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Nigeria. In Burkina Faso, the project is implemented by CERFODES in collaboration with national education actors.
Bringing Education Actors Together
The project launch workshop brought together representatives of central and decentralized education structures, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and United Nations agencies working in education in emergencies. The goal was to align actors around the research process and clarify roles.
Identifying the Real Challenges
During the workshop, participants identified major challenges related to continuity of education, security, learner retention, and the traceability of children who pass through educational innovations. These challenges show why context-specific research is needed before scaling solutions.
Research-Action for Practical Use
The project is described as research-action, meaning its purpose is not only to study innovations but also to evaluate their relevance and adapt them to current security and social realities. This makes the findings directly useful for public education planning and scale-up.
Supporting Children Outside School
CERFODES’ role connects evidence, policy, and field realities in a difficult education context. The project supports efforts to identify learning opportunities for children affected by crisis, displacement, and school disruption.
